AMBCWA with sponsorship by the AustCyber Western Australia Innovation Hub held the Western Australia and Malaysia Cybersecurity Collaboration Opportunities event on 21st October 2020 at the The George, 216 St Georges Terrace in Perth. Many opportunities in both Malaysia and Western Australia in the emerging cybersecurity industry were explored and industry participants included Dr Ian Martinus of AustCyber Western Australia, Ram Kuppusamy of Xcyber, Darryl Daisley of Pitcher Partners, Daisy Sinclair of Cyber8Lab and Anthony Marceddo of Edith Cowan University.
AMBCWA selected its new Committee for 2020 and 2021 at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 30 September 2020 with nine people now being represented on the Committee. The AMBCWA Committee welcomes Sam Lin, Carlson Khoo and Daisy Sinclair to the new Committee.
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI), in partnership with the Australia Malaysia Business Chamber (Western Australia) and the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Perth organised the first Australia Malaysia Business Roundtable on the 31st of October 2019.
It was a successful event attended by more than 100 business representatives from various sectors.
Australia Malaysia Business Chamber (Western Australia), Consul-General of Malaysia, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Curtin University organised a successful Bilateral Trade and Investment Roundtable on the 16th of July 2019 at Curtin University.
Australia has more than 60 years of a solid bilateral relationship with Malaysia – currently worth $20.5 billion in two-way bilateral trade of goods and services.
This roundtable discussed MIDA's roles in assisting WA's businesses to pursue investment strategies and/or seek strategic partnerships in Malaysia.
Our invited speaker, Mr. Shane Volk, Chief Finance Officer of Altech Chemicals and Eva Chye of PwC shared their experience and success story of building business relationship between Malaysia and Australia.

AMBC WA Committee had a fruitful meeting with MIDA's Food, Technology and Resource Based Industries in Perth on the 5th of April 2019. The meeting was in-conjunction with the specific project mission (SPM) by the Food Technology and Resource Based Industry Division, MIDA HQ to Perth, WA.
Among objectives of this SPM are as follows:
1) To promote Malaysia as a preferred investment location for manufacturing of Food and Resource-based Industries;
2) To disseminate information on the investment opportunities and update on the latest information on incentives, government policies on food and resource-based industries in Malaysia;
3) To meet with relevant associations and its members with a view to access the industry strength, collaboration and to establish networking with their members.

The Australia Malaysia Business Chamber (Western Australia) was successfully launched on the 27th of February 2019. We would like to thank everyone for the incredible support with the launch. The successful launch would not have been possible without you. The launch has helped raise the awareness of AMBC WA in the minds of government agencies, businesses and academia in Western Australia and Malaysia so we can work together towards enhancing our economy.
